I'm A Celebrity fans convinced they've worked out why GK Barry screams so much

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! fans are convinced GK Barry is screaming so much to secure more air time.

The social media star is among the campers for the new series of the ITV reality show and so far has made a big impression thanks to all the noise she makes. She shrieked and squealed through the entry trial, which saw her having to stick her hand into a box of roaches.

And she really let rip when she tackled the Vile Volcano trial on Monday night’s show, screaming about it being “hell” and swearing so much that hosts Ant and Dec giggled: “We’re going to need to bleep a lot of this!”

The public chose Barry to tackle Vile Volcano, in which she had to search through a series of caves and tunnels to find hidden stars, which could be traded in for food for camp. She was terrified as she came across creepy crawlies like spiders, green ants and snakes, screeching frequently and then telling herself to “grow up”.

Viewers couldn’t get over how noisy she was being, with one joking: “Last time I heard someone scream that much was at the labour ward.” “GK Barry is officially the Queen of Scream now,” said someone else, as another viewer asked for a “scream counter”.

And after Barry told Ant and Dec she “knew it was coming” because “no one else screamed” during the arrival race, many suggested she was trying to make sure she boosted her screen time.

“GK Barry the classic scream the whole first episode to get airtime to do the trial then nail the pretending to be terrified,” commented one.

“Her screaming making sure she gets plenty of airtime…. She’s not silly….” remarked someone else. Another viewer said: “She knows the screamers always become serial finalists and thus are guaranteed plenty of airtime.”

Despite her fears, the star got through the gruelling trial and managed to clinch nine out of the 10 stars up for grabs, meaning a decent meal for her fellow contestants.

The rest of the camp – including Coleen Rooney, Oti Mabuse and Barry McGuigan – were thrilled when she told them she had been successful. Elated, they started chanting “GK! GK! GK!”

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs every night at 9pm on ITV1, STV and ITVX.
