Jamal Roberts wins American Idol Season 23 with “Heal,” but third-place finisher Breanna Nix tops … More
Season 23 of American Idol ended on Sunday, May 18, with a bang. A new champion has been crowned, and hopefully, he’s able to enjoy a long-lasting and successful career in the music world with his debut tune.
As the newly named winner begins his journey, those who ended up just behind him are also performing well as Americans rush to buy the standout tracks from the three highest-ranking competitors this season.
Jamal Roberts Named American Idol
Jamal Roberts was named the winner of season 23 of the long-running musical reality series. He earned rave reviews throughout the season and finally came out on top after auditioning three times for the program.
He performed his winners single, “Heal,” which has quickly become a bestseller in the United States. At the moment, “Heal” sits at No. 6 on the iTunes Top Songs chart in America. In the coming hours, as more people wake up and learn of his triumph—and hear the tune—it may continue to grow in popularity.
John Foster Comes Close
In the end, it was a toss-up between Roberts and John Foster, both of whom leaned into country and Americana sounds to appeal to a wider audience. While Foster ended up as the runner-up this time around, he’s also scored a hit on iTunes.
“Tell That Angel I Love Her,” which was spotlighted during the final episode, is close to breaking into the top 10 on the iTunes Top Songs tally. As of the time of writing, it sits at No. 12, though it may rise higher in the coming hours or even days.
Breanna Nix Tops iTunes After Third-Place Finish
Breanna Nix finished the season in third place, but at the moment, she’s the winner on iTunes. Nix was eliminated in the final episode, but her single “Higher” is the top-performing track following the finale. She released the tune only a day ago – intelligently to coincide with the finale – and it currently leads the iTunes Top Songs chart.
“Higher” replaces “Ordinary” by Alex Warren at No. 1, beating both of the men who eliminated her from the competition.
