We’ve got a full trailer to augment the relatively short teaser for Wolf Man that Universal Pictures already released. The longer trailer gives us more of an inkling as to what’s going on, specifically about what happens to the dad of the family, Blake (played by Poor Things’ Christopher Abbott), when he gets bit on the way to visit his newly inherited childhood home.
It’s not a spoiler to say that Blake doesn’t fare so well. (It also seems like the werewolf who bit him might be his presumed dead father, giving weight to the metaphor that the tendency for loved ones to turn into monsters can be a generational thing.) This trailer, in fact, gives a cascading look at Blake’s downfall, right up to the point he becomes full werewolf, leaving his wife (Julia Garner) and his daughter (Matlida Firth) vulnerable.
The Blumhouse production also stars Sam Jaeger (The Handmaid’s Tale), Ben Prendergast (The Sojourn Audio Drama) and Benedict Hardie (The Invisible Man), with newcomer Zac Chandler, Beatriz Romilly (Shortland Street) and Milo Cawthorne (Shortland Street). It comes from writer-director Leigh Whannell, whose previous credits include 2020’s The Invisible Man.
Wolf Man premieres in theaters on January 17, 2025.
