Giants trade up to select their franchise quarterback

The New York Giants played it cool when they went on the clock with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Despite a serious need for a quarterback, they stood pat and drafted the top overall defensive player in the draft in edge defender Abdul Carter.

New York wasn’t done on Thursday night. As the first round was winding down, the Giants made a big move to go get Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. In the trade, the Giants sent the No. 34 overall pick, the No. 99 overall pick and a third-round pick in 2026 to the Houston Texans for the No. 25 overall pick and be sure they get Dart.

The Giants graded Dart ahead of Shedeur Sanders who continues to tumble in the first round. Dart will now go to New York where he can learn from wise veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston with no pressure to play as a rookie. This is a great scenario for Dart and an ideal landing spot.
