Eckelberry new West Lafayette chief

WEST LAFAYETTE − Morgan Eckelberry was recently sworn in as the new West Lafayette Police chief. He replaces Chris Walters, new Coshocton County Sheriff. Eckelberry started in law enforcement in 1992 and was an auxiliary deputy with the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office. He started as a part-time officer with the West Lafayette Police Department in 1996 and became a full-time officer in 2002.

JH Museum extends Roscoe Village exhibit

COSHOCTON − The exhibit Historic Photos of Roscoe Village at the Johnson Humrickhouse Museum has been extended through Jan. 31. Additionally, the book “The Pictorial History of Roscoe Village” has been released and is available at the museum gift shop, Auer Ace Hardware and online at jhmuseum.org for $15. The collection contains more than 150 photos from Roscoe Village during the late 19th century to early 20th century. The museum is open from noon to 4 p.m. Friday to Sunday in January.

Warning siren test upcoming

COSHOCTON − The monthly test of outdoor emergency warning sirens across Coshocton County will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 8. Sirens are located at the campus of Coshocton City Schools and the Coshocton, Pleasant Valley, Canal Lewisville, West Lafayette, Bakersville, Conesville, Warsaw and Plainfield fire departments. WTNS Radio will air its alert tone for one minute at the same time.

Coffee with a Doc upcoming

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton Public Health District will hold Coffee with a Doc at 5 p.m. Jan. 13 at Rust Décor, 341 Main St. Healing Chronic Pain: Muscle, Joint and Spine will be presented by Dr. Stephanie Kelley, a physical therapist with Coshocton Regional Medical Center.

Library having virtual author talks

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County District Library in partnership with the Library Speakers Consortium will offer virtual author talks starting in January. The first is TJ Klune at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 with the theme of The Magic of Found Family with talk about the Cerulean Chronicles and Somewhere Beyond the Sea. Amanda Montell will be from 1:45 to 3:15 p.m. Jan. 23 with focus on her latest book “The Age of Magical Overthinking: Notes on Modern Irrationality.” For more information or to register for any author talk, go to libraryc.org/coshoctonlibrary.

Slaughter leads United Way

COSHOCTON − Erin Slaughter was recently named the new executive director the United Way of Coshocton County, replacing Emma Mitchell who resigned. Slaughter has been with the organization for more than six years as an executive assistant.

Meetings

● The Coshocton County Budget Commission will meet in regular session at 10 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays in 2025 at the Coshocton County Treasurer’s Office, 349 Main St.
