Iron Man Writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby Return to Superhero Film With Shadow Tiger

When tales of Marvel’s now decades-long comic-book movie success are told, they rarely mention the writers. Iron Man, the film which started it all, had two screenwriting pairs: Mark Fergus & Hawk Ostby, and Art Marcum & Matt Holloway. The latter went on to Uncharted and Men in Black International, while the former went on to develop The Expanse.

Fergus and Ostby have been a little quiet since then, though in late 2022 a God of War series that they developed and wrote was greenlit at Prime Video.

Now, though, they’ve got something new on their plate: Deadline reports that the pair are adapting the comic Shadow Tiger into a live-action film. As the Graphic India site summarizes the tale:

As a kid, Rajan Shah lost his parents to a hit-and-run driver. Resigned to a life of poverty, Rajan is stunned when a mysterious benefactor pays for his education. Determined to make the most of his good fortune, Rajan becomes a lawyer to fight for justice. But as an adult, Rajan discovers that some forms of justice must take place outside the law.

Shadow Tiger is available from Graphic India as a both a print and an “audio comic”; the print editions list Chuck Dixon as the author and Graham Nolan as the artist, alongside Graphic India co-founder Sharad Devarajan, who is the only person Deadline mentions. Devarajan, along with Fergus and Ostby, will produce the adaptation.
