Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun Have Billion-Year Romance in Love Me Trailer

What is love? What is life, even? Those existential questions and more are explored in Love Me, the debut feature of writing-directing duo Sam Zuchero and Andy Zuchero that stars Kristen Stewart (Twilight, Love Lies Bleeding) and Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead, NOPE).

Yeun and Stewart aren’t playing humans… but what does being human even mean? The official synopsis sets up the plot:

In a story that spans billions of years, a buoy (Stewart) and a satellite (Yeun) meet online long after humanity’s extinction. As they learn what life was like on Earth, they discover themselves and what it means to be alive and in love.

The recently released trailer shows how this buoy and satellite transform into something more than their component parts. We also get a glimpse of the different filmmaking techniques the Zucheros use in the movie, including the usual live-action formats well as practical animatronics, classic animation, and game engines.

It takes a big swing, and while reviews from its screening at Sundance last year are mixed, it’s likely to be something different than what we’ve seen before.

Love Me, a Bleeker Street film, will premiere in theaters for the general public’s viewing pleasure on January 31, 2025.
