DENVER (KDVR) — Traffic was backed up on Interstate 25 Saturday after multiple crashes occurred near Loveland.
Lanes of northbound and southbound Interstate 25 were closed south of Loveland due to the crashes, according to COtrip, the Colorado Department of Transportation’s online tool.
Expect delays due to winter driving conditions, heavy traffic on I-70
Colorado State Patrol said there were three separate crashes on Northbound I-25, all near mile post 254.
At 2:33 p.m., CSP responded to a crash in which one vehicle rolled over. One person was taken to the hospital.
Minutes later at 2:41 p.m., CSP responded to another crash in the area involving a Nissan Rogue and a Kia Telluride. The agency said there was one complaint of an injury but said no one was taken to the hospital.
The third crash involved one vehicle, a Chevrolet Colorado, and no one was injured.
As of 3:36 p.m., CDOT said the roadway was reopened to traffic and the department’s cameras showed traffic moving in the area.
Each of the crashes is still being investigated, CSP said.
Increased traffic is already a factor with an expected record-breaking travel weekend and a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day issued as snowy conditions and dense fog will affect the roadways across the state.
CDOT is warning drivers to prepare for harsh winter weather driving conditions in several areas across the state, especially in the I-70 mountain corridor. Drivers can use CDOT’s COtrip website or the COtrip Planner app to check live road conditions and closures.
