Mikko Rantanen, Carolina Hurricanes
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Thursday night the Hurricanes had the framework of a deal to trade Rantanen to the Dallas Stars. He added the Stars have permission to negotiate a contract extension with Rantanen, but TSN’s Darren Dreger reported Friday morning that no deal is done yet. Carolina may have to return to the drawing board if the 28-year-old right winger doesn’t agree to a new contract with Dallas.
Brad Marchand, Boston Bruins
TSN’s Chris Johnston reported the Bruins and Marchand continue to have contract extension talks, but the Bruins are still getting calls about the 36-year-old left winger. He claimed there’s a feeling around the NHL that Marchand could be shipped to a team “out west” but no confirmation that a trade is imminent.

Rickard Rakell, Pittsburgh Penguins
Josh Yohe of The Athletic said the 31-year-old scoring right winger is available in the trade market. However, prying him away from the Penguins will take a significant offer. He’s signed through 2027-28 with an average annual value of $5 million and an eight-team no-trade list.
Brayden Schenn, St. Louis Blues
TSN’s Darren Dreger believes Schenn and former New York Islanders center Brock Nelson are among the Leafs’ prime trade targets. The Isles traded Nelson to Colorado Thursday night. Schenn, the 33-year-old Blues captain, has three more years on his contract with an average annual value of $6.5 million. The Athletic’s Jeremy Rutherford reported the Blues have set a high asking price and aren’t feeling pressured to move him.
Brock Boeser, Vancouver Canucks
Contract extension talks between the two sides have stalled. TSN’s Chris Johnston reported the Canucks have looked into the 28-year-old right winger’s value in the trade market. They could retain him and continue negotiating if they receive no suitable offers.

As many as eight teams have reportedly called, but only a handful have serious interest. Kurz speculated that the Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils and Winnipeg Jets are potential suitors.
John Gibson, Anaheim Ducks
The trade market is thin on goalies this season, but that’s not benefiting Gibson’s trade value. The Edmonton Oilers and Carolina Hurricanes are reportedly among the 31-year-old netminder’s preferred destinations, but The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun reports that neither club seems interested in acquiring him.
Brandon Tanev, Seattle Kraken
On Wednesday, the Kraken made a significant move by shipping Yanni Gourde and Oliver Bjorkstrand to the Tampa Bay Lightning. They sat out Tanev from Thursday’s game against the Nashville Predators for trade-related purposes. The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun reports they’re willing to retain half of the 33-year-old winger’s $3.5 million cap hit to facilitate a trade.
