The French astrologer Nostradamus has long been a trendy topic as the clock nears midnight on New Year’s Eve, with the prophet’s predictions—though highly subjective and even more debatable—catching the curiosity en masse for the year ahead.
Unfortunately, the quatrains focused on 2025 are pretty dreary, bordering on chaotic.
But alas, here they are …
War in England; the return of the plague
Last year, Nostradamus predicted torment among the Royal Family. Now, he’s seeing war in the UK and the dismal return of the plague.
“The kingdom will be marked by wars so cruel, foes from within and without will arise. A great pestilence from the past returns, no enemy more deadly under the skies.”
Conflict in global politics
While this isn’t groundbreaking, the 2025 domestic and international political landscape creates a bit of an on-the-nose scenario with such a prediction.
Nostradamus said that there would be “a decrease in the influence of established Western countries and the emergence of new world powers.”
A long war comes to an end
While Nostradamus’ predictions have typically been a ravage-filled drag lately, this one is more one the positive side.
The seer noted: “Through long war all the army exhausted, so that they do not find money for the soldiers; instead of gold or silver, they will come to coin leather, Gallic brass, and the crescent sign of the Moon.
Could we see an end to the Russia-Ukraine war—which began in 2022—in the year ahead?
End of the world
While the war might be over, the good vibes will be quickly squashed by the end of the world—courtesy of a giant asteroid.
Nostradamus wrote: “From the cosmos, a fireball will rise, A harbinger of fate, the world pleads. Science and fate in a cosmic dance, The fate of the Earth, a second chance.”
Obviously, the seer overlooked the fact we’d have a blueprint in place to stop such catastrophe in the form of the 1998 smash hit “Armageddon.”
Devastation and disaster in the Amazon
Before the world ends, climate disaster is predicted to hit Brazil through massive flooding and volcanic eruptions.
Nostradamus noted: “Garden of the world near the new city, In the path of the hollow mountains: It will be seized and plunged into the Tub, forced to drink waters poisoned by sulphur.
The rise and fall of Aquaman
Nostradamus took a bit of swing with this one, noting that a “mysterious leader” would rise to form an “aquatic empire.”
That prediction is not a misprint, nor are we sure if he’s referring to Jason Momoa and box office numbers or an actual aquatic anomaly rising from the depths to take over the world—while probably starting a tequila brand and a podcast.
Well, we’ll just have to wait and see — at least, until the world ends.
