Salt Lake County, Utah (ABC4) — One person is confirmed dead and another is in serious condition after a multi-car collision on westbound I-80 near 7200 West.
Lt. Cameron Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol confirms that a total of five vehicles were involved in this incident. Traffic was slow in the area at the time of the incident due to two separate crashes further to the west.
Two of the five vehicles involved caught fire when a pickup truck rear-ended a passenger vehicle, which then caused a chain reaction style crash involving three other vehicles.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 47-year-old Tooele man, was killed, while the driver of the pickup truck, a 33-year-old male, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
