Panthers legend Cam Newton says he'd want to be drafted by Cowboys

With the first overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft, the Dallas Cowboys select . . . Cam Newton, quarterback, Auburn.

Well, at least that’s how Cam Newton would have it.

On this week’s episode of 4th & 1 with Cam Newton, the Carolina Panthers legend was asked where he’d want to be drafted if he were to begin his NFL career today. Here was his answer:

Newton, of course, was selected by the Panthers with the No. 1 pick of the 2011 draft. He’d go on to become perhaps the greatest player to ever wear the black and blue—leading Carolina to three straight NFC South titles as well as their second-ever Super Bowl appearance and capturing the only Offensive Rookie of the Year award, Offensive Player of the Year award and Most Valuable Player award in franchise history.

That MVP campaign in 2015 featured a trip to “Jerry World,” where the Panthers pounced on the Cowboys for a 33-14 victory on Thanksgiving. Newton showed out under the bright lights, passing for 183 yards while rushing for 45 more and a touchdown in the blowout win.
