Liverpool have been dealt a significant injury setback with confirmation that Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the upcoming Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United. Arne Slot, speaking in Friday’s press conference, revealed that the right-back is sidelined but remains hopeful of a return before the season concludes.
The England international sustained an ankle injury during Liverpool’s Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night. He was forced off in the second half after an awkward landing in a challenge, immediately sparking concerns over his availability for the club’s upcoming fixtures.
Slot Provides Update on Alexander-Arnold and Konate
While Alexander-Arnold’s absence is a blow, there was more positive news regarding Ibrahima Konate. The French defender was also withdrawn against PSG, but Slot clarified that his early exit was due to fatigue rather than a serious issue.
“Trent is not available, he won’t be there,” Slot confirmed. “He is still to be assessed but we do expect him back before for the season’s end.
“Konate, yesterday was recovery, I expect him to train with us today.”
Konate’s potential availability will be a boost for Liverpool, who face a crucial period in their season, balancing domestic and European ambitions.
Quansah’s Emergence Impresses Tuchel

“Every time he plays, everyone can see he is a talent. He has had some setbacks and he has reacted and shown in recent performances. He has outgrown being called just a talent so that is what Tuchel has seen.
“He has done well for us in a position he is not used to, at right-back. He is strong, fast and comfortable on the ball. And he gives us something different on set-pieces too, you saw where he hit the post [against PSG].”
