Syfy’s Comics Adaptation Revival Sets Its Main Cast, Which Includes Wynonna Earp Herself

The next original series coming soon from Syfy is all about the undead—but in Revival, they’re not zombies. According to Variety, who broke the casting news, when the undead rise from their graves in small-town Wisconsin, they “appear and act just like they once were.” Which causes a lot of trouble for local law enforcement when a terrible murder takes place.

Revival, the comic series, was created by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton and ran from 2012 to 2017. The TV series comes from creators Aaron B. Koontz (The Pale Door) and Luke Boyce (Revealer), who both have a background in horror.

For star Melanie Scrofano, Revival is a return to Syfy; she led the much-loved Wynonna Earp through its four seasons (and beyond). She stars in Revival as Dana Cypress, a local officer who “is unexpectedly thrown into the center of a brutal murder mystery of her own, she’s left to make sense of the chaos amidst a town gripped by fear and confusion where everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect,” according to Variety. Oh, and the sheriff is her dad.

Dana’s little sister Martha is played by Romy Weltman (Backstage); Sheriff Cypress is played by David James Elliott (Heels, JAG). And last but most definitely not least, Andy McQueen plays CDC scientist Ibrahim Ramin, who has been sent to observe the peculiar phenomenon of the dead coming back to life. McQueen was on Outer Banks and Coroner, but around these parts he is definitely best known for Mrs. Davis, on which he played Jesus. Sorry, Jay.

No premiere date has been announced for Revival, but the series is in production now. icon-paragraph-end
