Traffic backed up in both directions of I-5 north of Salem due to crash


Both directions of Interstate 5 are delayed north of Salem and south of the Aurora-Donald Interchange, due to a crash, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation .

ODOT said the southbound lanes may be closed for a few more hours due to the crash which is just south of the Aurora-Donald Interchange.

Drivers are asked to use an alternate route.

Southbound traffic is backed up to Wilsonville.

Some southbound I-5 traffic is using Oregon Route 551 from Wilsonville toward Oregon Route 99E as a detour. ODOT said drivers should expect delays if using either highway between Aurora and Woodburn due to the heavy traffic.

The northbound lanes of I-5 are open through the area but traffic is backed up to just south of Woodburn, ODOT said.
