This grant will equip the Volusia County Medical Examiner with innovative technology in genetic research to provide identities and resolutions to these cold cases.

Victims of unresolved criminal cases have identities that often go unknown.
The funds from this grant will be disbursed for four specific instances of DNA analysis because they are the only cases currently under the Medical Examiner’s custody that meet the grant’s criteria.

“Each unidentified victim has a family somewhere who needs closure,” said Volusia County Medical Examiner Dr. James Fulcher.
Fulcher continues, “This grant enables us to apply the most advanced forensic techniques available today to bring peace to the families and justice to the community.”
