Businesses openings have increased and closings have decreased in Somerset County over the past four years, according to Ron Aldom, executive director, Somerset County Chamber of Commerce.
The local economy is pushing the needle of growth, he said.
There were a large variety of businesses that opened in 2024. Some provide services for the general population such as restaurants, retailers and healthcare entities, while others were more specific, such as a wedding venue, distilleries and a cleaning service.
Below is a list of some of the local businesses that opened and closed in Somerset County in 2024. The list may be incomplete because at any one time a business could close and one could open or even reopen.

Under Construction
O’Reilly Auto Parts is building a new location at 1420 N. Center Ave. in Somerset. The store is expected to open in the early part of 2025.
